In the complex international environment, it is worth thinking about how to safeguard China's sovereignty and interests in diplomacy. Whether diplomatic discourse is appropriate or not directly affects diplomatic results. In order to achieve the success of diplomatic activities, diplomats often resort to the effective strategy of violating the principle of conversational cooperation to solve difficult diplomatic problems, so as to achieve the best communicative purpose. As a highly politically sensitive discourse, diplomatic rhetoric is closely related to state secrets, international relations, national interests and image. In the changing diplomatic situation, diplomats need to be flexible and tactful in choosing appropriate words to deal with sensitive topics related to national interests. The speech strategies, characteristics and effects of the spokesmen of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government have become a hot topic for scholars at home and abroad. Therefore, the study of the violation of the principle of cooperation in China's diplomatic discourse can bring us some enlightenment. Through the analysis of previous diplomatic discourse, we can have a deeper understanding and grasp of diplomatic discourse strategy.

the following reviews the key literature concerned with cooperative principle of conversation and diplomatic discourse. sources are from the google scholar, cnki, daidu scholar and so on with the key words such as cooperative principles, diplomatic discourse and violation of cooperative principles.

grice believed that communication can be successful only when people cooperate with each other(chen,1985amp;george,2019). grice called this principle of mutual adherence the cooperative principle of conversation. this theory has received great attention from researchers and has been applied in the analysis of literature and film works.
